Substance abuse is harmful in numerous ways. It isolates individuals from their families, jeopardizes employment, drains savings, and damages romantic and social relationships. Beyond that, it can cause lasting harm to both physical and mental health. Because it impairs judgment and encourages risky behaviors, it can even lead to fatal consequences.
Like any disease, addiction requires professional support from a substance abuse treatment center. Of the tens of millions of Americans facing substance use challenges, only a small percentage will receive the help they need. This is why programs like those offered at the Addiction Recovery Institute of America are so vital.
At ARIA, we combine evidence-based clinical treatment strategies with holistic, person-centered approaches to provide our clients with the tools they need to achieve lasting recovery.

THE ROLE OF A SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT CENTER
Substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder — often referred to as “addiction” — are diseases that impact the brain’s chemistry. For centuries, it was widely believed that overcoming addiction was simply a matter of willpower or moral character. However, addiction specialists have long proven this to be a myth. Attempting to combat addiction without professional assistance is not only unlikely to lead to successful recovery, but it can also be dangerous, especially during detox.
Each substance leaves the body at its own rate and can cause a range of withdrawal symptoms. These may include nausea, vomiting, chills, tremors, and anxiety, but can escalate to seizures, hallucinations, or worse. For these reasons, it is critical not to attempt quitting “cold turkey,” a process professionals refer to as “self-detox.”
At ARIA, we provide a comprehensive range of drug addiction treatment programs tailored to meet each client’s unique needs. Starting with medically supervised drug or alcohol detox, we ensure clients are monitored 24/7 to remain safe and comfortable as they go through withdrawal. Programs like those at ARIA’s substance abuse treatment center are designed to provide the support and care necessary for successful recovery.
OUR SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT CENTER AT ARIA
At ARIA, we provide five distinct drug and alcohol addiction treatment programs that are interconnected and designed to be progressive. Clients can begin with medical detox, the initial stage, or, if their addictions are less severe or they have already completed higher levels of care, they can enter at a stage that best suits their needs. These programs include:
- Detox programs – As toxic, addictive substances are cleared from the body during medically supervised detoxification, our clients navigate their withdrawal symptoms in a safe and supportive environment.
- Residential treatment program – In this program, residents live under supervision at our substance abuse treatment center while receiving intensive care and support.
- Partial hospitalization program – In our PHP, clients reside at home or in a sober living facility while continuing to receive the highest level of care. This program serves as the first step in transitioning back into everyday life, free from drugs or alcohol.
- Intensive outpatient program – In ARIA’s IOP, clients continue to receive care at our facility while living outside its walls. The focus at this stage is on establishing healthy routines and developing strategies to manage triggers and stressors that could lead to relapse. Clients also work on building strong social support networks.
- Outpatient Treatment Program – The outpatient treatment program is the most flexible and least intensive option in our Kentucky substance abuse treatment offerings. Clients can continue working, attending school, and meeting family and social responsibilities while receiving treatment that fits their schedule.
It’s important to remember that not every program is suitable for every individual. During our initial diagnostic assessment, we work closely with clients to determine the appropriate level of care. Our expert team will identify the best fit for you as we develop your personalized treatment plan.
